An Oasis in Your Week
During my time in practice, I have worked with a huge variety of clients, all with very different reasons for seeing me. Very early on, I began to notice a pattern emerging; the people I saw wanted to continue with their sessions even after they had realised the goals that they had originally set. Why?
Because their sessions helped them to feel good.
This realisation changed everything for me as a hypnotherapist. My focus turned to helping people in a more preventative way; rather than trying to 'fix' a problem; I wanted to help people to avoid having one in the first place.
We live in a world full of very difficult challenges, many of which can have a huge impact on our emotional health. Self-care is (quite rightly) starting to be recognised as a crucial part of being happy and healthy, hence its exponential growth in popularity. Though we tend to think of hypnotherapy as being a cure for phobias, or a tool to unlock forgotten memories, in my experience, self-care is an area in which hypnosis can truly excel. Imagine a form of therapy that you actually look forward to, and come away from feeling happier and more connected with yourself; this is exactly what I am committed to offering you.
What exactly is 'self-care'? Importantly, this varies depending on the needs of the individual. Essentially, as the name suggests, it is caring for the self, and this can have different meaning to different people. For some, self-care means setting goals and thinking purposefully how they would like to move forwards in various areas of their daily lives. For others, it might be a time for (compassionate) reflection; did you just have a Big Thing? Perhaps a presentation at work, or a project that you completed? Though I work in a very solution-focused way - which predominantly looks to the future rather than the past - I very much enjoy providing a supportive space in which people can think about what went well, and what could be even better next time (or what they want to focus on now that the Big Thing is over). For many, self-care simply involves setting aside 'protected' time; time for you, when you don't need to be anywhere, when you don't need to do anything. All of the demands of life can be left outside, and you can focus on unwinding and relaxing, with the added bonus of being in a therapeutic space which actively helps to put you in a more positive mindset. And, if there's something in particular you'd like to work on (perhaps something you've seen somewhere else on my site!), then we can absolutely do that, too.
Though self-care may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of hypnosis, I warmly invite you to give it a try and notice the difference it makes to the way you feel.
